New Beginning Full Gospel Church History

On Sunday, April 21, 1996, a new ministry was born. Our first service was held in the Victory Room at the AFC on 79th & Ashland. There were 38 present, and our first offering was $435.00. This ministry was not premature, but certainly unexpected; so much so that we did not even have a name until May, 1996. After being at the AFC for three weeks, the Lord opened an effective door at Soul Winners Outreach Church, 90th & Halsted where Apostle James Brown was the Pastor. We stayed there for 3 ½ years having services at 8:00 a.m. every Sunday morning.

In March, 1997, Apostle R.D. Henton installed Pastors Corneal and Joyce A. Harper as Pastors of New Beginnings Full Gospel Church.

In November 1999 through June 2008 we were located in Concordia Park, 130th & Daniel Drive; before moving to Chicago Heights – from Chicago Heights to Harvey, IL and from Harvey to our Promised Land.

On March 24, 2010 we signed papers to purchase our first church home at 658 E. 92nd Street in Chicago, IL. God has been good.

One of the mandates that God has given us is to equip those who have a call on their lives for ministry. In October 1999 after successfully completing the “Ministers in Training” classes, five ministers were licensed to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In February, 2003 we ordained our first Elder and consecrated three Mothers and two Trustees. On April 23, 2006 we licensed our first Missionary. In April 2009 we licensed our first Evangelist.

On Friday, July 29, 2011, the Lord called home our beloved Bishop Corneal Harper, Sr. The New Beginnings Full Gospel Church ministry continued under the very capable leadership of Joyce A. Harper as our Pastor until she retired on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Ronald and Karen Daugherty were installed as our new pastors on that day as well.

New Beginnings is a church that has been called out to make a difference:

– We have provided Tutoring on Saturdays

– We have given free computer class and sewing classes

Our VISION includes an affordable Day Care Center, Afterschool Tutoring and a Christian Book Store as well as a profitable Banquet Hall.

It is taking time to implement the entire vision, but
