Ronald O. Daugherty

Ronald O. Daugherty gave his life to the Lord in the summer of 1970 at the age of 15 at Pilgrim COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Nathaniel Robinson.  Some months prior to that day he had made a promise to the Lord, because of some things that he had seen, that if he ever got saved, he would do it right, he wouldn’t play with God.  At Pilgrim COGIC, he sang in the choir and served as choir director for a period of time.

His search for a deeper relationship with God and to be connected with other young people who were devoted to God, lead him to join Bethesda gospel Tabernacle, under the leadership of Pastor Thomas O. Wilson.  There he encountered a group of young people, especially young men, who were on fire for God and being used by God in ways he had not seen before.  This atmosphere created a hunger and thirst to know god on a deeper level.   At Bethesda, he sang in the choir, served as a devotional leader, a deacon and in 1980 was ordained as an Elder (which he knew had to be a mistake because he had not been a minister yet).  He assisted Pastor Wilson for years as an armorbearer, before he had ever heard of the term or even knew what it meant.  As he served Pastor Wilson, he received impartations of insights and understands, it was as if he was seated in a classroom and being taught by a master teacher.  He was made the Youth Pastor and poured of himself and his substance into the lives of young people at the church.

In 1992, being led by God, he and his family relocated to Fort Worth, Texas and became members of Bethel Temple Church, under the leadership of Pastor Robert N. Lawson.

At Bethel Temple, he served as an Associate Elder, Youth Pastor and Director of Christian Education. As he worked with Pastor Lawson, he was challenged in a way that he had not been before.  With Pastor Wilson, he had learned the word, but with Pastor Lawson, he would now see the word displayed with such humility and meekness, that his prayer to God was “Lord help me”, which began a new phase of his journey with God.

After 21 years at Bethel Temple, it was time to come back to Chicago, leaving their daughters and grandchildren in Texas in 2013. We (Karen and I) followed God’s leading and came back to help the ministry of New Beginnings Full Gospel Church, under the leadership of Pastor Joyce Harper (Bishop Corneal Harper Sr. had made his transition to be with the Lord.  Today, we become Pastors of this ministry
